EMAIL Etiquette
EMAIL Etiquette is one of the most underrated and probably LEAST understood facets of the Internet. The URL below offers some really GOOD advice about the proper way to use the service.
I sincerely hope that EVERYONE in the Penn National community will take the time to read this carefully. Please feel free to pass it on to others, as well. If the guidelines are followed it will "ease the pain" of many of our residents and friends.
When I first read it, I was surprised at some of the suggestions, but pleasantly so! Often well meaning people send things out to others without realizing the impact on the recipients.
One of the most frequent comments I get is related to the EXCESSIVE Emails received. Often the recipients just don't know how to deal with the "OVERLOAD"! They don't want to hurt anyone's feelings and they don't want to offend a person they respect by asking that they not be included in their messages. But they get so much they sometimes stop reading it. Sometimes they just delete anything that comes from a specific person. That is unfortunate because that "specific person" may sometimes send really important information.
Even if you think you do everything properly and have been doing it the same way for years, I URGE you to examine this information. It may just open your eyes in a way that will benefit you and many of your friends. Some things you have been doing may be a "Subtle Irritant" to others.
