We got our tags at Sollenberger’s Messenger Service, Inc. in
Fayetteville. Take 997 to Rt. 30.
Left on 30. You will see a
sign for Fayetteville to your right. I
think there is also a large billboard for Sollenberger’s there, too, which
tells you in which house the service is located.
I think it is the first house on the right (they have moved since we got
our tags).
In
order to register your vehicle you will need to take:
---A
valid title for your vehicle issued in your name, from the state you left.
---A
valid insurance identification card, declaration page of an insurance policy, a
copy of a valid binder or a copy of an application for insurance to the PA
Assigned Risk Plan.
---Form
of identification (can be your driver’s license).
---You
will have to have the vehicle with you so the VIN number can be checked or take
a tracing of the VIN with you.
Title
fee is $22.50. If you have an
unpaid loan on the car, an additional $5.00 is charged.
Registration
fee is $36.00. I believe there is a
fee to Sollenberger’s also, but it is small.
You can also obtain special tags (Owl, tiger etc.) from them.
There
are other places to get tags, also. Check
your phonebook under notaries.
Inspections:
Safety inspections are
performed at many places, gas stations, garages, etc.
As you drive, look for the signs. Inspection
fees can vary, so you may want to shop around.
There is a time limit for your inspection after you receive your tags.
Check with your tag supplier.
WARNING:
Your first inspection is
only good for 11 months. After
that, inspections are good for a year. PA
does not send inspection reminders.
